Stephen Gold The Northwestern University Master of Science in Analytics program is pleased to host Stephen Gold, Director of Worldwide Marketing, Watson Solutions, IBM Software Group on January 24th, 2013. Gold will be speaking about “The Rise of Cognitive Systems: IBM Watson, Big Data and the Cloud” at 12pm in the Ford ITW classroom.

IBM Watson captured the imagination of over 34 million viewers when it beat the all time champions of the US game show, Jeopardy!  To do so, it navigated the complexities of human speech, churned through 200 million pages of unstructured data in under 3 seconds, delivered a confidence-based response, all the while learning and getting smarter with each outcome.  But as impressive as this accomplishment was, it was only the beginning.  IBM is working with leading organizations across industries to put Watson to work.  The possibilities are endless! Join Stephen Gold, Worldwide Marketing Director, IBM Watson Solutions, in an engaging discussion of how IBM Watson can fundamentally transform the way businesses and individuals make decisions and how next generation systems will be designed.

This lecture is part of a series that allows Master of Science in Analytics students to interact with and learn from prominent figures in the field. Gold will also meet with students and professors in the program to discuss trends in the field of analytics.

Gold’s expertise is in brand marketing, marketing communications, social media, public relations, analyst relations, sales enablement, and demand generation.
